Diana Krall: When I Look In Your Eyes
When I Look In Your Eyes, Diana Krall’s sensuous follow-up to her smashing success, Love Scenes, is every bit the statement the vocalist wants to make...she’s an artist with musical integrity and longevity. Diana Krall relaxes, excites and brings you full circle on songs orchestrated and conducted by the legendary Johnny Mandel. His orchestra adds a beautiful dimension to Krall’s subtle vocals and piano on such polished standards as "Let’s Face The Music and Dance," "Let’s Fall In Love," and "I’ll String Along With You." Diana sings "When I Look In Your Eyes," produced by Tommy LiPuma and Johnny Mandel, with so much emotion and passion, that even the most hopeless romantic will literally get goosebumps. Her subtle phrasing and nuance is the consummate compliment to the ballad, "I’ve Got You Under My Skin," leaving the listener inside the emotional story behind the Cole Porter tune. With small ensemble arrangements by Diana Krall and The Diana Krall Trio/Quartet, and co-arrangements with John Clayton, Krall’s musical prowess shines forth with Russell Malone on guitar, Ben Wolfe and John Clayton on bass, Jeff Hamilton and Lewis Nash on drums and Larry Bunker on vibes. The excellent song selection on the 12-track CD should put just about anyone alive in the mood for love.
