Accordingly, the avid music lovers leaving the venue, whether long-time fans or casual attendees (many of whom seemed a bit dazed by what they had seen and heard), must have pondered how Pat Metheny's Orchestrion work will benefit him in the future. As he collaborates with other musicians and utilizes the technology at hand, his musical sensibilities will no doubt become even more finely honed. And that, considering his eclectic history, is a bold statement indeed, though right in line with the rarified level of ambition on display this autumn night in the Green Mountains of Vermont.
