Bert Seager: Resonance
When it comes to music, don't make the mistake of assuming that the "big" labels have a monopoly on talent Accurate may be a "small" label but Seager is surely a musician worthy of your consideration. Working within the trio format, this Boston native has produced an album that's richly detailed and very rewarding. Bassist Dan Greenspan and drummer Dan Rieser share equal space with Seager and their creative interplay reminds me of the classic work of the late, great Bill Evans. Seager's playing exhibits the same soft touch and love of lyrical chord progressions. The 10 song program is equally divided between Seager's strong originals and standards from such giants as Miles Davis and Thelonius Monk. You may have to "special order" Resonance from your favorite CD shop but I assure you your efforts will be amply rewarded. It's a lovely recording!
