Tim Cummiskey and Jack Wilkins: Kindred (2005)
While I'm quite sure that plectrists will be able to note the distinctions between these two guitarists, the liner notes don't reveal who plays what or when, and the casual listener may have difficulty determining who is active at any time. For example, the album opens with a swinging take on the Burke/Van Heusen tune "Like Someone In Love" with both Cummiskey and Wilkins showing their ability to trade choruses and provide accompaniment for each other, about halfway through the track.
Three duet numbers feature just the two guitarists, and they are the highlights of the album: Kern's "All The Things You Are," Bruno Martino's "Estate" and a stately version of Johnny Green's classic "Body and Soul." The full group is heard on the other tracks, including Jobim's "Caminhos Cruzados," Mongo Santamaria's "Afro Blue" and Jerry Bergonzi's "Outhouse."
