Miles Davis: Kind of Blue

On the flip side of this CD is a DVD documentary that features brief interviews with Herbie Hancock, Ed Bradley, Shirley Horn, Jackie McLean, John Scofield, Jimmy Cobb, Dave Liebman, Bill Cosby, Eddie Henderson, Me'Shell NdegéOcello, Q-Tip, David Amram, Ira Gitler, and Horace Silver. Each reflects on the album's songs and what kind of impact they've left on jazz.
Several brief video samples are included from a 1959 black & white CBS-TV special called The Sound of Miles Davis. The documentary's integrated black & white still photos recall vivid memories, as do several brief samples from a 1979 Bill Evans radio interview. The sharing of opinions about this classic must-have album proves both refreshing and reinforcing. Most of us agree that Kind of Blue holds a special place in jazz history.
Sony's DualDisc packaging gives Kind of Blue an added dimension that reminds us visually and aurally how valuable this album is to us year after year.
