HOLIDAY JAZZ
We've created a new Holiday Jazz page with links to our extensive holiday reviews, articles, and discussion topics. A link to this page will appear in the far-right column of the home page throughout December.
If you're new to AAJ and are looking for recommendations, try Dave Hughes's suggestions from his Building a Jazz Library: Holiday Music.
Looking for free holiday downloads? Mark Sabbatini will hip you to the spots to find them!
BOOST YOUR WEBSITE TRAFFIC WITH AAJ LIVE CONTENT
Looking for daily content for your website? Want to keep readers coming back for more? All About Jazz can help.
AAJ has created a series of live content boxes for news, articles, CD reviews and upcoming CD releases. Place any or all of our boxes on your website and watch your traffic grow.
Adding a content box to your website is simple, but it does require some knowledge of HTML. Just follow these instructions and you'll be up and running in no time.
Anyone can benefit from daily content, though we strongly encourage radio stations and general purpose jazz sites to add the news box.
SITE IMPROVEMENTS
We want to hip our occasional visitors to three new changes/additions:
[1] The home page,
now links to the last five updated threads on the AAJ Bulletin Board. If you want to get a quick snapshot of what AAJ readers are discussing, click any one of these links.
[2] Charlie Dahan is now listing books at the Upcoming Releases Center. If you haven't visited this page, please do -- it's the most comprehensive online resource of its type.
[3] Since multiple perspectives are always fun and often start great discussions, AAJ will occassionally publish multiple reviews of a single CD. The eyeglasses icon ( ) just below the "print this" icon indicate when multiple reviews of a CD exist. (example)
CD REVIEWS AND ARTICLE HIGHLIGHTS
AAJ continues to rock the global beat as we eclipsed 180 CD reviews for the month. Many contributed extended analysis reviews, and special thanks to C. Michael Bailey for his multiple reviews.
If you haven't visited the site recently, chances are you missed some exceptional articles. We strongly recommend John Kelman's review of The Penguin Guide To Jazz On CD, Seventh Edition, Jack Gold's Jazz Out There: Out of Print and Unavailable, and Nathan Holaway's 1959: The Most Creative Year in Jazz. Or share a smile with Bill Anschell, back yucking it up with Jazz Math.
As always, AAJ brings you up close and personal with today's (and tomorrow's) musicians of note. This month, we chatted with Joshua Redman, Esbjörn Svensson, Luis Perdomo, Vinicius Cantuaria,
Matthias Lupri, David Sanchez, Michael Musillami, and many more.
