ARE YOU A JAZZ MUSICIAN?
Today marks the official re-launch of the new All About Jazz jazz
musician directory. This is the best way our readers (over 200,000 a month) can learn more about you as an artist, plus
keep up with new releases and performances on an ongoing basis.
Please take a moment to submit your info here.
We've provided a similar resource in the past, but the new directory
has several advantages. You can create your own detailed web page
(Your Name @ All About Jazz) with many features, and all of the
entries will be searchable by several parameters, including
geographical location. It will also be hooked into our upcoming NEW
RELEASES and CALENDAR OF EVENTS systems.
We hope that you take advantage of this opportunity to share your
profile with the jazz community.
SEE YOU AT IAJE?
The Annual Conference sponsored by the International Association of Jazz Educators (IAJE) will be held this week in New York City. Based on past experience, it's always a trip.
If you're not out making merry too late on Friday, we invite you to stop by AAJ's discussion panel "Has The Internet Helped Jazz?" on Saturday morning. It's early (10am to be exact), so grab a coffee & bagel and stop on by. The livelier the discussion, the better.
We look forward to seeing you!
COVER STORY HITS THE HOME PAGE
From this point forward, we've decided to feature our best articles as "cover stories", putting them front and center on the home page. Look for a new cover story every few days in the box just above the daily articles.
Our latest: A Matter of Time by E.J. Iannelli
QUOTE OF THE DAY
Look for a new jazz quote every day at the bottom of the All About Jazz home page.
In case you haven't been tuning in, here are a few we posted over the last week or so...
"I think I had it in the back of my mind that I wanted to sound like a dry martini." ~Paul Desmond
"Making the simple complicated is commonplace; making the complicated simple, awesomely simple, that's creativity." ~Charles Mingus
"For his contributions to jazz, Kenny G should be: (D) Smeared with bacon grease, placed in a cage with three underfed Kodiak grizzly bears, and whatever happens, happens." ~Genius Guide to Jazz, January 2004
TAKE OUR MONTHLY JAZZ QUIZ
We're re-launching our monthly jazz quiz with a real doozy. To take it, click here. If you get 80% or greater, AAJ will buy you a 22 oz. beer at IAJE.
Just so you know up front, it's harder than a Physics mid-term. We promise to make the next one easier.
Look for many new & exciting features at AAJ in the coming months. Stay tuned and stop back often.
All the best,
Mike, Chris, Nils and the entire AAJ Staff
