The American Jazz Museum has achieved another major milestone in its 15 years of existence. The Missouri-based non-profit organization officially posted a profit during the past fiscal year and began the new fiscal year in the black.

Along with significant and consistent marketing communication strategies, an increase in monthly admissions and ticket sales to the museum permanent exhibits and the upward attendance trend in the Blue Room during the last quarter of the fiscal year, the American Jazz Museum finished the year strong. All tactical areas have helped usher the turnaround.

American Jazz Museum CEO, Greg Carroll, had this to say on the museum’s success. “The museum’s most recent positive operational fortunes should be attributed directly to our staff. The AJM Team has been focused on our tactical mission of Performance, Education, Exhibition, and Research (PEER). I am proud of this team. I would also like to thank all of our supporters, sponsors, corporate affiliates and the citizens of Kansas City for continuing to support the American Jazz Museum.”

Those figures, combined with the success of last year’s Rhythm & Ribs festival, Jammin’ at the Gem performance concert series, and exponential increases in bookings for private events utilizing the museum’s facilities have been key aspects in the museum becoming profitable. The fiscal year runs from May 1st through April 30th.

The mission of the American Jazz Museum in Kansas City is to celebrate and exhibit the experience of jazz as an original American art form through Performance, Education, Exhibition and Research.
