The moment of happiness for jazz lovers is coming back with the Thailand International Jazz Conference 2023 or TIJC 2023, the most fantastic Thailand jazz event that includes many world-renowned artists such as Javon Jackson & Delfeayo Marsalis, Emmet Cohen Trio, Laurent de Wilde Trio, Sketchbook Quartet, etc. Don't miss out on Jazz with Thailand Phil Featuring Javon Jackson & Delfeayo Marsalis, The Pomelo Town. And also highlight the works of Sonny Rollins, an American genius and legendary saxophonist to exhibit and glorify the virtuoso artists. Save the date to join us on January 27-29, 2023 at the College of Music, Mahidol University, Salaya.

Dr. Narong Prangcharoen, Dean of the College of Music, Mahidol University said that the TIJC has reached its 14th year, showing the cooperation of jazz musicians across the country, and the world-class artists presented by embassies in Thailand.

“Special thanks to the 4 embassies, France, Germany, Austria, and Italy, who appreciate what we do and support the band to attend the event. This year we will see quite a lot of jazz from Europe. There will also be artists from America and big bands from Asia and Thailand, joining together on the stage. It's like a New Year's celebration for jazz lovers who come together with no border of language, race, or skin colour. There are artists of all ages from legendary jazz to youth jazz musicians from Youth camp. It's a really extensive and seamless stage.

What's even more special is that it is the first time for the jazz band competition that opened for all ages, and styles of music with a jazz identity to participate in the TIJC Solo Competition 2023 and the TIJC Jazz Band Competition 2023, a jazz competition that will give a learning experience that cannot be found anywhere else as it will be the world-class artists as judges, ”said Dr. Narong.

Darin Pantoomkomol, Chair of the Jazz Department, College of Music, Mahidol University said about the artists this year are so extensive, especially artists from Europe. We will see instruments rarely seen in jazz, such as the violin, from the artists such as Luca Ciarla and Sandro Roy. Those who enjoy classical violin should not miss it. Also jazz piano master, Laurent de Wilde, will bring each person's talents to mix with jazz.

“One of the highlights that many people are waiting for is the show by Music 101 Featurinng Delfeayo Marsalis & Javon Jackson, the world-class jazz artists from the United States, former Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers member. Sonny Rollins is his hero, so he wrote a song honouring the virtuoso saxophonist and will be performing with the Thailand Phil. Also the Solo Competition Final Round, the theme songs will also be the hit songs of Sonny.”

Thai artists participating in the event are outstanding and worth watching, such as Nop Ponchamni & The Groovetomatix Band ASIA7, Pure-Ekkaphan Wannasut—The winner of The Voice All Star. The shows at the oval stage during the day, which will be free admission for all three days, are packed with totaling more than 40 bands of the Big Band and Small Band. We are delighted that there are bands from the music academies this year, including Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia.
