Telluride Blues & Brews Festival Adds
Vieux Farka Toure and Anders Osborne to the Lineup

Vieux Farka Toure

The Telluride Blues & Brews Festival has added Vieux Farka Toure and Anders Osborne to an already impressive lineup.

The little known world music up and comer Vieux Farka is turning heads with his radical idea that western Saharan musical roots can be heard in everything from the jam-band scene to Jamaican dub. Toure's music is contemporary African - urban, sophisticated, globally connected but deeply proud of its ancient heritage. Toure is said to represent the old/new Africa. The Africa that is true to the sole not some idealized film version that paints a pretty picture of the disparaging nation that faces many difficult political and social problems.

Anders Osborne began playing drums, piano and guitar as a young child. As a juvenile he performed his own compositions in front of an audience, in addition to songs by singer-songwriters like Van Morrison, Neil Young and Bob Dylan. Osborne left home at age sixteen and spent the years that followed working odd jobs and playing music throughout Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. When he returned state-side, he traveled across the U.S. and ended up in New Orleans. While in New Orleans, Osborne honed his distinctive songwriting, which artfully blends blues, funk, soul and classic R&B to create an original synthesis of styles. Since then, Osborne's fame has spread beyond the borders of New Orleans, a city where he first cut his teeth and developed a reputation for incendiary live shows.

Other acts performing at the 16th Annual Telluride Blues & Brews Festival include: Umphrey's McGee, Jackie Greene, Xavier Rudd, Joe Cocker, Buddy Guy, Bonnie Raitt, Taj Mahal, and many more.
