Rae Ann Perez
Time for something new. The new Rae Ann Perez CD Midnight In Paris has its official release date on October 7th and will be available on CD baby, Amazon, iTunes and more. A new term “World Jazz," is what best describes the 12 song release of Rae Ann's 8 originals compositions and 4 modernized jazz classics. The style is a multi genre mix that includes unique blends of latin, jazz standards, modern cool jazz, funk, and world music with exciting rhythms.

Rae Ann leads the way with creative piano melody improvs accompanied by sweet and cool vocals. On two of the tracks she also plays a mean Hammond B-3. Rae Ann is known for her dynamic performances and her easily approachable personality. She has mastered a style of her own. The rest of the quartet is led by the incomparable Meir Perez on drums and percussion. Meir's inventive style is apparent on many of the tracks. He is also the author of two drum books called New Creations for the Modern Drummer. Doing his superb duties on electric/acoustic bass is Chuck Archard. Experienced as an educator and author, Chuck has performed with such greats such as Larry Coryell. Finally, an amazing performance on acoustic/electric guitars by Bobby Koelble adds smooth comping and cool solos to the mix. These professional and well- rounded musicians complement each other well to make the total package music to your senses.

The title track “Midnight in Paris" sets the cool mood of the CD with a modern scat and rhythmic twist at the end. The second track, “My Amor," is a breezy latin with a kick of Spanish guitar. “Summertime" is a standard performed in a fascinating beat. Song four, “I Just Want You" is a classic Billie Holiday style club tune. The next song, “Astrud" is an ode to Astrud Gilberto with hints of Jobim piano improv. “I Would Never Leave You" is a jazz tune at its best. Track 7, “Mandy," is a modern, funk influenced crossover jazz. “A Dream I Have" is bluesy, gospel inspired fun. Track 9, “Blue Skies," is a feel good bossa all the way. Then, “Livin' Las Vegas" has got a humorous and vintage feel of what goes on in Vegas. “Who's It Gonna Be" is an emotional ballad of the Nancy Wilson style. Last is an old classic, “I Love Being Here with You." This is a great standard done with a new and amazing rhythm.

Overall, Midnight In Paris, and Rae Ann Perez offer a fresh take on the new World Jazz scene. Listen and enjoy!
