Germany as a partner country, this is a unique opportunity to promote jazz from Germany worldwide. True to the motto Building Bridges", the pre-premier of the commissioned work around Ingrid Laubrock in New York is the perfect opportunity to build a bridge from Germany to the motherland of jazz. A delegation from Bremen will be travelling to the U.S. metropolis in January to present jazzahead! and this year’s partner country Germany. And that’s not all: Ingrid Laubrock will give an exclusive concert in the run-up to jazzahead! 2023 with her newly formed ensemble Lilith" at the renowned Blue Note Club on 14 January. Together with a second event at Goethe-Institut New York jazz from Germany, but also jazzahead! itself, will be presented in New York.
jazzahead! is a trade fair, conference and showcase festival—with contemporary, high-profile jazz from Germany and Europe and from overseas. From April 27th to 30th, the jazz world will come together in Bremen to network, exchange ideas, attend conferences and panels, and experience 36 showcase concerts in the official program during four days at jazzahead!
A jazzahead! delegation from Bremen will be at Goethe-Institut to present jazz from Germany, but also jazzahead! itself. Some of the most exciting German musicians living in the U.S. will be part of a panel to talk about their life and work and German Jazz in general. Together with the Goethe-Institute New York jazzahead! invites to get to know the German scene and get interesting insights in current developments.

Charlotte Greve is a New York-based alto saxophonist and composer originally from Germany. With a unique concept of tone and composition, she has been making a mark on both the Brooklyn and German jazz scenes. Charlotte has released seven albums as a leader of her bands Lisbeth Quartett and Wood River, two of which received an ECHO Jazz.
Timo Vollbrecht is an NYC and Berlin-based saxophonist, composer, and scholar who is also the Director of Jazz Studies at Brown University. Originally from Germany, he came to the US in 2010 on a Fulbright scholarship and quickly integrated himself into the New York music scene. He has been playing with established jazz icons like Theo Bleckmann, Ben Monder, Kenny Werner, and Ralph Alessi, as well as with a diverse range of emerging artists.
Tobias Meinhart is an award-winning saxophonist and composer based in Brooklyn, New York. Born in a small town in rural Bavaria, Germany, Tobias Meinhart has spent the last 15 years carving out a career in the international jazz scene. He performs regularly at New York’s most prestigious jazz clubs (Blue Note, Smalls and Birdland), and tours internationally with his own band.

Ingrid Laubrock is an experimental saxophonist and composer, interested in exploring the borders between musical realms and creating multi-layered, dense and often evocative sound worlds.
