You say it's snowing in Buffalo? Figures, these guys are just so so cool!
—Lance Liddle, Bebop Spoken Here
Andrew Nixon
In Congruence is the debut release from trio “Nixon, Croft and Goretti.” It features nine of Nixon’s original compositions. “Apart from composing, Nixon is a stand out pianist who swings like the long gone greats but still lives in the present. He's found that niche between the past and the future where musicality reigns supreme—Bill Evans had similar qualities.” —Lance Liddle, Bebop Spoken Here

On drums is Joe Goretti, a Berklee College of Music graduate whose credits include work with Moby, Ne-Yo, Robyn, AJR, Ingrid Michelson, Sam Moore (Sam & Dave),The Temptations and more. Bassist Ed Croft is a 3-time recipient of the JazzBuffalo poll for Best Acoustic Upright Bassist and a graduate of SUNY Fredonia and Bowling Green State University.

First uniting in 2018 in Buffalo NY, the group has performed at the CMC Jazz Festival, Queen City Jazz Festival, and Northwest Jazz Festival. The album was mixed by award winning engineer Mark Wingfield and mastered by 2-time Grammy winner Mike Marciano.

“An impressive debut album by the combination of pianist/composer Andrew Nixon, bassist Ed Croft and Joe Goretti on drums shows the width, breath and strength of what a team of three are capable of producing these days.” George W. Harris (Jazz Weekly)

In Congruence is available now on all streaming platforms.

As put by Paul Hofmann in the liner notes, In Congruence is “A wonderful debut trio recording featuring two superb sidemen and where all the compositions are Nixon’s… Each member of the trio has their own unique take on things, and the result is marvelous..”
