Detroit Blues Society Establishes Memorial Award for Youth Blues Musicians.

DETAILS
The award is called THE JAMES S. HENRY YOUTH EXCELLENCE AWARD. It is named in honor of Detroit Blues Society Member and friend, Jim Henry who passed away at the age of 49 in March of 2009. Jim was dedicated to mentoring young musicians or bands, that he felt, showed a bright future in the Blues world. Jim would routinely assist them, record them, give them tutoring, and be a friendly advocate in a very tough business. This award will be presented at our Awards Ceremony in January of each calendar year.

ELIGIBILITY
Any musician or band, under the age of 21, is eligible for nomination.

PROCESS
Nominations can be made by any Detroit Blues Society member or industry insider for any musician or band. The nominee must be 21 or under at the time of nomination. In the case of a band, the MAJORITY of it's members must be 21 or under at the time of nomination.

The nominator must submit the name(s), contact information, a photo, and a brief biography in order for the nominee to be eligible for this award.

All qualified nominations will be submitted to the Detroit Blues Society Board of Directors. They will discuss and vote upon the nominees for selection of the final awardee(s).
