The LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD has been given since 1992 and is the highest musical honor given by the DBS. It is awarded to living and deceased musicians that have made significant contributions to Detroit Blues during their careers in the business.
Past recipients have been Garfield Angove, Larry McCray, Odessa Harris, Priscilla Price, Joe Hunter, Billy Davis, RJ Spangler, Little Jr. Cannaday, Kenny Martin, Stanley Mitchell, Bobo Jenkins, John Lee Hooker, Eddie Kirkland, Little Sonny Willis, Sir Mack Rice, Lazy Lester, Duke Dawson, Harmonica Shah, the Butler Twins, Alberta Adams, Uncle Jessie White, Mr. Bo Collins, Howard Louie Bluie Armstrong, Johnnie Bassett, Rev. Robert Jones, Robert Noll, Steve Gornall, Jimmy Thackery, Kim Simmonds, and the Famous Coachman. The BLUES HORIZON AWARD has been given since 2005 and is the highest non-musical honor given by the DBS. It is awarded to living and deceased individuals that have made significant contributions to Detroit Blues during their careers in the business. Past recipients have been Willy Wilson, Jim Zimmerman, Jeremy Haberman and Ed Schenk.
