Chamber Music America Announces its 2006-07 Series In collaboration with Midtown Arts Common and The Jazz Ministry at Saint Peter's

Chamber Music America (CMA) has announced the 2006-2007 schedule for “First Tuesdays," its annual series of professional development seminars for jazz and classical musicians. This year, the seminars will be presented in collaboration with Midtown Arts Common and the Jazz Ministry at Saint Peter's in New York City.

Free of charge, the eight seminars will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Saint Peter's Church (619 Lexington Avenue at 54th Street) on the first Tuesday of the month, September through May.

Seminar topics include advice on getting airplay for recordings (presented by radio host Gary Walker), the ins and outs of copyright protection (presented by entertainment-industry attorney Robert Clarida), and an introduction to web-based marketing techniques (by jazz industry expert Jim Eigo). Other sessions will focus on the availability of residency and commissioning grants for musicians, including how to best use the resources of CMA to seek such support. On May 1, a “Grant Fair" will give musicians the opportunity to ask specific questions of representatives from local and national grantmaking organizations.

Chamber Music America, the national service organization for the ensemble music profession, was founded in 1977 to promote artistic excellence and economic stability of the field, and to ensure that chamber music, in its broadest sense, is a vital part of American life. With a membership of over 8,000, including musicians, ensembles, presenters, artists' managers, educators, music businesses, and advocates of ensemble music, CMA welcomes and represents a wide range of musical styles and traditions. The Jazz Ministry at Saint Peter's was founded in 1965 and is a home for diverse individuals and communities which celebrates the dignity and vitality of jazz, provides vibrant worship and pastoral care, and through intersecting partnerships, offers jazz programs, education and services".
