The second chapter of Caz Plak's ambitious Turkish Jazz Trilogy will be released next month with three region-specific vinyl LP releases of The ORTF Recordings Paris 1971 by Don Cherry Trio, in line with Caz Plak's curatorial efforts in showcasing the far-reach of Turkish Jazz's influence. The Istanbul-based label has licensed two recordings of Don Cherry's work from the archives of the legendary Parisian jazz label BYG Records. These recordings feature joint performances with long-time Don Cherry Trio members, Turkish drummer Okay Temiz, and South African bassist Johnny Dyani. Originally released exclusively in Japan in the early '70s, this will be the recordings' first-ever worldwide release.

The ORTF Recordings Paris 1971 vinyl LP is Caz Plak's follow-up to 2022's trilogy debut with Okay Temiz's Oriental Wind—Live at Montreux Jazz Festival 1982 LP whose re-mastering process was shared between Temiz himself and Mert Ucer with the former overseeing the vinyl production process in Istanbul. Caz Plak reports the respected Turkish jazz drummer wouldn't have this any other way for his friend's legacy, given Temiz sharing a productive collaboration history with both the esteemed American trumpeter and South African bassist, along with being the surviving member of the recording's incarnation of the Don Cherry Trio. Recorded at the iconic ORTF studios (Office de Radiodiffusion Télévision Française)for the Sound and Vision program in Paris in 1971, the vinyl LP features one of the pioneering figures of Jazz, Don Cherry, interpreting Turkish rhythms.

Don Cherry Trio The ORTF Recordings Paris 1971 vinyl LP will be released worldwide in three limited editions, each hand-numbered and region-specific.

The Turkish Edition features an unpublished photograph taken by the world-renowned photographer Ara Guler in 1969 as the cover art and includes liner notes in Turkish and English, with a run of 1,000 hand-numbered copies. The European pressing will also be limited to 1,000 hand-numbered copies with liner notes in French and English and cover art consisting of a 70mm analog photograph of Château de Versailles by Caz Plak co-founder Erinc Guzel. Limiting the number of copies to 500 for the Japanese pressing, the final vinyl variation holds an obi strip and liner notes in both Japanese and English. All pressings are on 180-gram vinyl and come with a gloss-finished 350gr Bristol molded cover.

Now available for pre-order at iconic record stores and cultural hubs such as Sounds of the Universe in Soho, London, Disk Union in Tokyo, Japan, and Dusty Groove in Chicago, Don Cherry Trio The ORTF Recordings Paris 1971 vinyl LP will see its official release on October 6th. Pre-orders are also running through Caz Plak's Bandcamp.
