Brooklyn, NY -- In celebration of Caribbean Heritage Month, Brooklyn's own Something Positive Dance Company will perform an exciting Lincoln Center concert debut at Pan Jazz 2010 on Saturday, June 19th at 4:30PM. The event, titled Folklore: Tales of the Caribbean will be hosted by philanthropist and former Miss Universe, Wendy Fitzwilliam. In addition to Something Positive and Ms. Fitzwilliam, the concert will feature internationally renowned artists including 3 Canal; Leon Foster Thomas; Andre White; Jacques Schwarz-Bart; Freddy Harris; Etienne Charles; Buddy Williams; and Benjamin Williams. The concert is under the artistic direction of legendary Caribbean carnival designer Brian Mac Farlane.

Founded by cultural icon, the late Cheryl Byron, the company has performed an original repertoire at venues including the African Burial Ground National Monument, American Museum of Natural History, Dwyer Cultural Center, and the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture. A distinguished honor was bestowed on Something Positive in 2007, when they had the honor of being the only performing company invited to commemorate the official unveiling of the African Burial Ground National Monument.

Gaining significant popularity among industry heavy-hitters over the last year, Danny Glover and music producer David Rudder hosted a fundraiser for the group in April. Host committee members included Schomburg Center Chief, Dr. Howard Dodson; Celebrity makeup artist, Sam Fine; Alvin Ailey dancer and associate producer of Disney's The Lion King on Broadway, Aubrey Lynch II; Philanthropist, Danny Simmons; BET Producer and Entertainment Lawyer, Nathan Hale Williams; and author, Akoshia Yoba. The company followed their fundraiser with an exciting performance at the New York Times Center chaired by legendary actor, Geoffrey Holder; a performance honoring the late dance icon, Professor Rex Nettleford; and two sold out concerts at Long Island University's Kumble Theater for the Performing Arts.

Tickets to Pan Jazz 2010 are priced at $45, $55 and $65, and can be purchased through panjazz.com or at the Jazz at Lincoln Center Box Office.
