Val Hawk

VAL HAWK has been singing, playing and performing for most of her life.  Starting as a self accompanied singer songwriter in Greenwich Village clubs, she made her way to off-Broadway to appear in David Rabe’s “In the Boom Boom Room” and on to ABC TV as Becky Sue in “Schoolhouse Rock”. Some of her earlier recording projects include “Seventies Reminiscence” and “Canary Islands”, both released for the Japanese Pop market. As a member of jazz vocal group The Ritz, Hawkappeared internationally at the Fukuoka, Tokyo and Jakarta Blue Noteand in festivals and concerts throughout Europe, Asia and the USA.

The Ritz’ CD, “Almost Blue" (Denon) features Hawk’s vocal, guitar and arranging skills. Singing with the late, great Bob Dorough, she appeared at many venues, including The COTA Festival, Iridium, The Deerhead Inn as well as on Dprough’s CD “Duets”.  As the founding member of vocal trio, Three Spirit, she can be heard in the opera “Tony Caruso’s Final Broadcast”.

Her CD “Dream” showcases her arrangements, guitar accompaniment, vocalese and original compositions. Hawk continues to perform in New York City.  Most recently, she has turned her efforts to completing a project of jazz originals.
