Tima Volozh
Jazz drummer Tima Volozh is a Brooklyn based, Russian born musician who is quickly making a name for himself as a dynamic voice in the New York jazz scene. After years of living in London (UK), Tima relocated to New York to pursue a Master’s degree in jazz performance at New York University. Since completing his studies, he recorded his debut album of original compositions and arrangements for quintet. Set to be released in December 2023 on Shifting Paradigm Records the album "Jubilee" features Paul Motian alumni Jerome Harris (bass) and Brad Shepik (guitar) along with Timo Vollbrecht (saxophone), and Noah Franche-Nolan (piano). Additionally, Tima's collaborative EP "Barberia's Delight" with Marshal Herridge featuring pianist Anthony Wonsey is set to be released in October 2023. Tima holds a monthly residency at Fiction Bar in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
In addition to his quintet, Tima Volozh leads a quartet featuring Ari Hoenig on piano, with guitarist David Blake or George Grydkovets and bassist Marshal Herridge. Tima also leads a trio featuring pianist Anthony Wonsey.
As a sideman, Tima has performed with harmonica player Cy Leo, guitarist Steve Cardenas, bassist Marshal Herridge, pianist Antonio Ciacca and guitarist Leonid Morozov. Tima has recorded on pianist Oscar Caucaly and guitarist Nick Rousseau’s albums, released on ADHYAROPA label.
In 2022, as a member of Boysie Lowery Jazz Residency, Tima performed at the 35th annual Clifford Brown Jazz Festival in Wilmington, Delaware. Tima’s new group featuring guitarist David Blake, pianist Noah Franche-Nolan and bassist Warren Louie have been awarded an artist residency artist at the Avaloch Farm Music Institute.

Jubilee is the excellent debut release of Russian-born New York-based drummer Tima Volozh.
