Svetlana Zhavoronkova

A Moscow based singer and song-writer. For the past 5 years she participated in singing contests on TV, performed at the best jazz festivals in Russia and became the resident at the famous Kozlov Club in the Russian capital. Her songs are rotated on several Russian radio stations.

Her voice combines the energy of Tina Turner and the lyrical pensiveness of Diana Kroll, the intonations of Aretha Franklin and the tragic hoarseness of Janis Joplin. Svetlana performs her own compositions (mainly with her own project Secret Atelier), jazz standards and world hits of different eras, which take on new meanings in her reading. She’s inspired by quite diverse artists from the territories of jazz (Anita O’Day, D.D. Bridgewater, Ella Fitzgerald, Gregory Porter), soul (Chaka Khan, Tina Turner and Aretha Franklin), classic Soviet chamber pop music, world pop and rock (from Jamiroquai to Bob Dylan) and so on.

At the moment she studies piano at Moscow College of Improvisational Music and is working on her new album. Onstage, Svetlana can be found with different line-ups from a duo with piano player to a full-scale band with woodwinds section and back vocals group.
