Stuart Hawkins
Stuart Hawkins is a jazz trumpeter, composer and producer with a soulful, funky sound.
Born in Australia to British and Malaysian-Chinese parents and raised in Hong Kong, Stuart began playing the trumpet at the age of nine, and his love for jazz and blues grew throughout his teenage years.
Stuart studied Modern History at the University of Oxford and performed regularly with some of the UK’s top young jazz talents. Returning to Hong Kong, he became a frequent performer at The Jazz Club and played in venues across Asia.
Now based in Thailand, Stuart has collaborated with leading Thai and international jazz and pop artists.
His new album, 'Hey!', released in 2025, features a dynamic collection of original compositions, ranging from upbeat jazz-funk grooves to laid-back neo-soul. The title track, featuring US singer Coco LaShaun alongside Thai jazz artists Sunny Rattana on piano, March Titiwat Tripob on bass, Preedipat Kampan on drums and Chartsayam Marc Kiripart on sax, blends bebop with hip-hop in a way that feels both timeless and fresh. The track has already garnered over 100K streams on Spotify.
The album also features the jazz-funk anthem 'Heat', the smooth jazzhop groove 'Swagger', the funky instrumental 'Showtime' inspired by the iconic 'showtime era' of the 1980s LA Lakers, and a raw, bluesy rendition of 'Amazing Grace'. Additionally, 'Elo March' is a playful nod to competitive chess while 'Follow Me' is a groovy Harmon mute feature. The instrumental track 'Nakhon' offers relaxed beach vibes and is named after Nakhon Si Thammarat in Southern Thailand where Stuart conceived the idea for this album.
Stuart's hard-grooving debut album 'And What If I Don't' was originally released in 2017 in partnership with Universal Music Thailand. The album includes Passakorn Morasilpin on saxophone, Kom Wongsawat and Darin Pantoomkomol on piano, March Titiwat Treepob on bass and Pong Nakornchai on drums. Stuart donated all proceeds from his album sales and his charity single 'Love at Sundown' - a tribute to His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great - to The Water Foundation of Thailand (Utokapat Foundation) under the Royal Patronage of H.M. the King.
With his uplifting songs and soulful sound, Stuart's music is a celebration of groove, expression and musical evolution.
