Simone Locarni

Simone Locarni was born in Verbania in the year 1999, at the age of 6 he starts studying the piano, and at the age of 12, he is admitted to the “Guido Cantelli” Conservatory of Novara. He has participated in numerous masterclasses with great pianists including Simone Pedroni, Ettore Borri, Edoardo Torbianelli, Emilia Fadini, and Stefano Battaglia, Simone has also performed at many concerts from a young age. In those years he participates in national and international classical music competitions winning first prize in many of them (“XXI Terzo national competition for young pianists”, “International Stresa youth music competition 2010”, “Antonio Bertolini Prize (Milan)”, the V and VI editions of the “International piano competition Un Ricetto in Musica di Candelo” among others). Simone takes part in many festivals one of which is Milano Piano City 2014 with a concert at the Palazzina Liberty.  In August 2019 premiered at the Festival of Piedicavallo (BI) a recital on Leoš Janaček with Simone Bernardini, Giulia Bellingeri, and Christina Kerscher, long-running members of the prestigious Berliner Symphoniker. At the moment Simone is enrolled at the “G. Verdi” Conservatory in Milan with Alessandro Commellato as his teacher. At the age of 13 Simone starts to study jazz, from 2015 to 2020 he participates in the “Alto perfezionamento Jazz” course led by M° Ramberto Ciammarughi, he also studies for many years with M° Antonio Ciacca (teacher at the Juilliard School in New York). Starting in 2016 Simone starts to participate in the main festivals in Italy with musicians long known on both the national and international stage like Hector Costita, Nico Gori, Michael Steinman, Yuri Goloubev, Bebo Ferra, Riccardo Fioravanti, Andrea Dulbecco, and John B. Arnold among others; Simone has also at a young age worked with the Erios Junior Jazz Orchestra and the Sant Andreu Jazz Band of Barcellona.  Simone in 2016 wins the Mortara Jazz Festival scholarship and the “Brusoni per la musica” study grant, then in 2017 Simone participates in the masterclass of Merano Jazz that included teachers Franco D’Andrea e Dado Moroni, earning himself the Audience Award and the Best Musician award 2017, the latter being assigned by a jury of the teachers presided by Franco D’Andrea and Eddie Gomez. In 2018 he participates at the “La Spezia Jazz Workshop” held by some teachers from the City College of New York winning the “Premio Tiberio Nicola” for being the best musician of the masterclass: this achievement allows him to hold a concert in New York for the “Italian Jazz Days” in October of that same year. He has recorded two albums, the last of which, has been published in 2021.
