Reggie Wright

Reggie Wright was born October 10th 1973 in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania; the second of 3 boys born to Reginald Sr. and Janise Wright (Furby). Reggie was raised in the Church of God In Christ and began singing in his early teen years. Having made the decision to sing as a vocation he began studying the vocal styling of many noted gospel singers such as The Hawkins Family, The Clark Sisters and Vanessa Bell Armstrong. Being one dimensional vocally worked for a while until he heard the late Sarah Vaughan sing “Body and Soul” on television and it forever changed his interpretation of song. While the music of the church will always be present and evident; jazz and R & B became great peripheral interests. After arriving in California in the summer of 2002, Reggie pursued jazz music of the late 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. Insatiable is the word that best captures this time period for him. Spending both countless hours and dollars alike at the record store; Reggie became not only a student but a collector of legendary musical artists. Some of the most notable artists in his collection would be Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Mel Torme, Aretha Franklin, Frank Sinatra, Luther Vandross, Shirley Horn, Dinah Washington, Nat King Cole, Shirley Bassey and Judy Garland. With the influence of these unforgettable singers one can only expect Reggie to come out of the gate swinging. Most recently Reggie completed his first live DVD recording in Oakland, California. This recording not only introduces him to the Greater Bay Area but to the world at large. We can expect to hear many great things from Reggie Wright in the very near future.
