Naples Philharmonic Jazz Orchestra

The Naples Philharmonic Orchestra is a jazz sextet based in Naples Florida, featuring the talents of trumpet titan Dan Miller (Harry Connick Jr Orchestra, Wynton Marsalis Big Band), saxophone sensation Lew Del Gatto (Saturday Night Live Band), pianist Jerry Stawski, drummer Mike Harvey (Yanni), bassist Kevin Mauldin and violinist Glenn Basham.

Tenor saxophonist Lew Del Gatto, played with the “Saturday Night Live” band for 24, performed with Frank Sinatra, the Tonight Show Band, Letterman and Rosie O'Donnell shows.

Pianist Jerry Stawski is the house pianist at The Ritz-Carlton properties.

Sensational trumpeter Dan Miller has played with a long list of the top modern big bands, including the Harry Connick Jr. Orchestra, the Wynton Marsalis Big Band, the Woody Herman Orchestra, Tom Jones, and Maynard Ferguson.

Drummer Mike Harvey has also played with many top acts including Yanni.

Violin and harmonica player Glenn Basham is the concertmaster for the classical Naples Phil. Bassist Kevin Mauldin is the principal bassist with the Phil.

Wednesday, November 4, brought the first live jazz concert that I’ve been able to hear in person in nearly eight months. The last was in early March. This road trip was to Artis Naples, where the Naples Philharmonic Jazz Orchestra resumed its concert series last month – with careful attention to pandemic protocols.
