Marc Beland
Inspired just as easily by John Coltrane and Elvin Jones as Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell and even new acts like Vampire Weekend and Little Dragon, Marc is crafting a sound that is all his own.
A Montreal native, his love of the drums was passed down from his father. From a very early age, he knew he never wanted to pursue anything else besides music.
Marc pursued his studies in the heart of jazz, New York City, where he graduated from the New School For Jazz And Contemporary Music. He has had the fortune of studying/working with some of the greatest musical minds of our time, including Aaron Goldberg, Tigran Hamasyan, Glenn Zaleski, Joe Martin, Ben Street, Lage Lund, Mark Guiliana, Tim Lefebvre and Ari Hoenig.
He has also been working with one of Quebec's finest young pop talents, Jonathan Roy. They have toured the province for the past two years, and are working on the beginnings of a 4th album.
Currently, Marc is working on his second solo project, where he will have two rolls, that of the timekeeper, and that of a vocalist. It's a strange new world for Mr. Beland, but it's a challenge he embraces with enthusiasm.

Clinic/Workshop Information
Bringing drummers back to the basics, I push the realization that less is more, and simplicity is the most effective way to convey groove and emotion behind the drum kit.
