Federico Nuti

Federico Nuti began studying classical piano at the age of 7, and then interrupted his studies during his adolescence. During the first years of university he began to attend the pre-academic courses of the Siena Jazz Academy, where he fell in love with jazz music and improvisation to the point of leaving university and enrolling in the three-year period of Jazz Piano at Siena Jazz University, where he graduated with honors.

During these years he studied with Simone Graziano, Alfonso Santimone, Rita Marcotulli, and began an intense concert activity in Tuscany. The training period in Siena lead him to perform with various bands also in Maastricht, Amsterdam, Barcelona and Hamburg.

At the same time he attended two years of Permanent Music Research Laboratory for piano with Stefano Battaglia, and attended the Siena Jazz summer seminars, working with Franco D'Andrea, Gerald Clayton, Matt Mitchell and performing with Avishai Cohen, Matt Penmann, Marcus Gilmore, Theo Blackmann, Ben Wendel.

After graduating, Federico moved to the United States to attend the Master in Jazz Performance at the New England Conservatory of Boston, where he deepened his knowledge of traditional African American music and expanded his musical vision under the guidance of international artists of the caliber of Jason Moran. Ethan Iverson, Ran Blake, Dave Holland. After the experience in the United States, he returned to Italy, (since October 2020 he has lived in Bologna) to become a piano teacher at the Siena Jazz Association and dedicate himself to his first album as a leader, InFormal Setting.
