Michael Conklin

Michael Conklin is quickly earning a reputation as a scholar of American 20th Century Music. He has collaborated with author Andy Hamilton (University of Durham, UK) for his upcoming publication for University of Michigan Press, entitled Lee Konitz: Conversations on the Improviser’s Art. Michael is presently working on his first text, A Century of Change: Exploring the Musical Evolutions of the 20th Century.

As a researcher, Mr. Conklin’s primary focus lies in deconstructing the constructive methods by which composers create music with special attention to jazz improvisation and the popular song.
