Mandy Chan

Mandy Chan is a vocalist, composer, arranger and bandleader who continuously pursues excellence in music. Mandy Chan’s repertoire includes jazz, Latin, folk, and pop, sung in Mandarin, English, Cantonese, Teochew dialect, Taiwanese, Spanish or French. From traditional to modern, from popular to avant-garde, from China to international crossover world music, she embraces all styles and genres of beautiful music. Mandy has been performing throughout China and working with various musicians from across the globe, such as French vibraphonist Benoit Stasiaczyk, pianist Cedric Hanriot, Luxembourgish pianist Marc Mangen, Latin percussionist Gerardo Rosales, and Dutch jazz saxophonist Dick de Graaf.

At her young age, her talent and love of music were noticed and her family sent her to formal vocal training where she studied Traditional Chinese singing with Cai Laiyou. Her vigorous studies and love of music eventually lead her to the Xinghai Conservatory of Music where she studied vocal and performance and graduated in 2011. Recently, she is finishing her study in jazz voice, Master of music in Codarts University of the Arts in Rotterdam, the Netherland.

Mandy Chan focuses on creating crossover music between the east and the west. Mandy’s love of traditional Chinese music and poetry, influences of western jazz, Latin and pop music would definitely be heard in her transnational, trans-cultural compositions and arrangements. Through Jazz, she sees the opportunity to bring her artistic cultural heritage to the rest of the world, while at the same time sharing international music styles and forms with the Chinese audience.
