Lou Wang

Lou Wang began his musical journey at the age of three when, inspired by a short piece he heard on the radio, he started classical piano lessons. The Vancouver, Canada native continued his classical studies until his freshman year in high school, when he discovered the art of jazz as a pianist for his high school jazz band. At this point, Lou began expanding his musical interests, also becoming an adept guitarist along the way.

Music was forced to take a backseat while he completed a Pure Math degree at the University of Waterloo; however, after two years working as a program manager at Microsoft in Seattle, Lou could no longer suppress his passion for music. He left Seattle and enrolled at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he studied jazz performance, TV composition, arrangement, and production. Surrounded by talented and passionate students, Lou flourished at Berklee, where he was awarded several scholarships for his work and graduated Summa Cum Laude.

Lou has composed and produced music for numerous productions including the Tribeca Film Festival Award Show in New York City, which was broadcast live across North America. Now back in Vancouver, he is currently an avid performer/composer/arranger, playing with trios, quartets, and quintets throughout the city.
