Lee Steck

Lee Steck has been playing drums and percussion for 45 years. He began studying with Skip Falls in Berkeley in the late ‘60s and later attended The Dick Grove School of Music in Los Angeles, where he studied with Dave Garibaldi, Jerry Steinholtz, and Richie Lepore, among others. 

Lee has performed professionally since the late ‘70s throughout California, New Mexico, and Colorado in a wide variety of musical settings, from straight ahead Jazz, to Avant Garde and Latin, Salsa and Nuevo Flamenco, Blues, Rock, and Afro-beat. He has played at the Santa Barbara Jazz Festival, the Taos Solar Festival, the Cherry Creek Festival in Denver, the Crestone Music Festival, and the Outpost Performance Center as well numerous clubs and dates.

Lee is currently playing drums with The Mary Rose Jazz Trio, The 3 Faces of Jazz and the Mushi Project as well as vibraphone with Ornetcetera, and percussion with the fledgling Afro-beat band Shake Alert.
