Kyle James

Iowa native, Kyle James, is a budding young saxophonist, composer, producer, audio engineer and soon to be graduate of Western Michigan University with degrees in Jazz Studies and Media Technology. Kyle has had the opportunity to collaborate with artists like Carl Allen, David Binney, John Patitucci and Billy Hart as well as study with Damani Phillips, Rich Perry, and Andrew Rathbun.

His playing style is rooted in the melodicism of cool jazz while exploring the vigor and complexity of the modern scene in his rhythmic sensibility. The compositions on "Datum" are fresh and honest. His writing has a unique sensitivity provided by his wide range of influences and exacting harmonic schemes.
