Kurt Bischof

Kurt Bischoff has been playing drums for over 55 years. He played in numerous rock and jazz groups during high school and studied music theory and composition at the University of California, Davis with Stan Lunetta, Larry Austin, John Cage and others. During his college years, he performed with the Sacramento Symphony, the Camelia City Orchestra and the rock groups Gumbo Ya-Ya and Opus Fluke. He was also a founding member of the Hyborean performance group Amra/Arma with which he performed at the International Carnival of Experimental Sound in London, England in 1972. In 1988, Kurt and his family moved from California to the Pacific Northwest where he continued playing in various jazz groups (including a tenure with Richard Thompson and Harry Holbert). He is currently writing and performing with the fusion jazz group Mission Drift.
