Kimberly Reason

Known for her ability to sing fast swing in one turn and tender, crystal-clear ballads the next, Kimberly discovered jazz through her mother, a former beauty queen who grew up in a tenement off Jackson Street during the heyday of Seattle’s legendary jazz scene in the 1940s. As a child, Kimberly studied piano at Cornish College of the Arts and sang in church choirs, including Kent Stevenson's gospel group, The Urban Rhythm Chorus. More recently, she has studied under Pamela Casella, Carolyn Graye, Andrienne Wilson, and Karen Olson. She produced her CD, Kimberly Reason with the Larry Fuller Trio, in 2004. Kimberly was born and raised in Seattle.

She has played with Clarence Acox, Bill Anschell, Overton Berry, Hadley Caliman, Buddy Catlett, Chris Clark, Geoff Cooke, Evan Flory-Barnes, Larry Fuller, Jon Goforth, Jon Hamar, Bob Hammer, Randy Halberstadt, Bernie Jacobs, Karin Kajita, D’Vonne Lewis, Reuel Lubag, Doug Miller, Victor Noriega, Phil Sparks, and Greg Williamson. Her venues include The Triple Door, Tula’s Jazz Club, The Sorrento Hotel, The Rainier Club, Egan’s Ballard Jam House, Vertigo, Café Campagne, Cromwell Park, Local Color, and The Seattle Athletic Club.

In addition to her solo career as a vocalist, Kimberly performs with the septet, COCOA MARTINI, featuring 2008 Kobe-Seattle Vocalist Winner, KAREN SHIVERS, a guest vocalist of Shivers' and Reason's choice, and KIMBERLY REASON. The Seattle-based group is backed by some of the region's top jazz talent: BILL ANSCHELL on piano, BERNIE JACOBS on saxophone and flute; DOUG MILLER on bass, and GREG WILLIAMSON on drums.

COCOA MARTINI took Seattle by storm in its sold-out debut at The Triple Door in December 2007, and has been performing to sold-out audiences since.
