Jordan von Haslow

Jordan von Haslow is a cool jazz vocalist who was born in Chicago. He initially performed under the stage name KJ, but changed his name after marrying a New York financier.

Jordan's only jazz recording was entitled “This Could Be the Start of Something” which was recorded in Sydney, Australia at the historic Paradise Studios. The album featured Matt Baker on piano, Kory Horwood on bass, Even Mannell on drums, and Adrian Cunningham on flute/tenor saxophone. It was released by Voix Chic Records and distributed by Sony Music Entertainment, which led to a career-long recording contract with Sony.

Jordan was active and had a large following on the New York City jazz scene, regularly performing at various venues in Harlem such as St. Nick’s Pub, Lenox Lounge, Revival (a sold-out year-long residency), Orbit East, Chez Suzette, The Cotton Club, and Birdland. One of his first club gigs was in Chicago at Andy’s Jazz Club.

Jordan's talent as a jazz singer was recognized by legendary Chicago Sun-Times society columnist Irv Kupcinet, who wrote, “It’s so gratifying to know that KJ, a graduate of the Chicago Academy for the Arts, is such a success.” New York Post music critic Chip Deffaa called his act, "jazzy and sexy".

Jordan attended the Chicago Academy of the Arts as a music major, where he studied under Patricia Rusk. He further honed his skills at the Bloom School of Jazz under Spider Saloff. He was a “cherub” at Northwestern University and attended Oxford where he read literature and creative writing.

Jordan's career later transitioned to focus on musical theatre and cabaret, where he achieved great success. He also led a successful career as an entertainment executive, holding executive roles at Sony Pictures, Time Warner, and Disney.

Jordan von Haslow garnered great acclaim for his interpretation of the Gershwin songbook and remains a beloved figure in the world of jazz music.
