James Zeller

James Zeller A trombonist since the age of 12, James has had a love for Jazz singing since the very first time he heard Billie Holiday and Louis Armstrong. After years of playing with many fine singers as a horn player, he began working as a singer in 2010. The trio he and Pat Brennan started in 2012 has been perfroming steadily for the last two years. They have made 'Bar Pleiades' at The Surrey Hotel their home since the fall of 2013. James has performed and recorded with some of the finest jazz ensembles in the world including The Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis; The Village Vanguard Orchestra; Slide Hampton and the World of Trombones and The Jimmy Heath Big Band and at the Rainbow Room for four years with the New York Big Band. As a freelancer he has performed extensively at every major Jazz club in New York City, among them The Blue Note, The Village Vanguard, Smoke, The Jazz Standard, Dizzy's Club, Small's. He is a member of legendary drummer Billy Kaye’s Quintet and cornetist Don Hahn's Sextet.
