Giovanni Di Carlo

Giovanni Di Carlo, (born June 4, 1994, Termoli, Italy.) is an Italian guitarist and composer whose guitar skills and compositions earned him a vast audience in Western Europe.
Known for his trio career as well as his career as part of the ‘Giovanni Di Carlo quartet,’ this musician has never ceased to expand his own musical horizons.

Having taken up guitar playing as a kid, at a very young age he completed his studies in classical music at "Lorenzo Perosi" Conservatory in Campobasso, Italy.

Giovanni became interested in jazz music after listening to a cassette tape of jazz artist Wes Montgomery and he began growing his love for the genre by discovering and listening to other artists such as George Benson, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra.

In 2013 Giovanni moved to Brussels, Belgium, where he enrolled at Royal Conservatory of Brussels and where his music career actually started. Thanks to his strong perseverance and determination, he played frequently with fellow students in the city's music clubs and began to draw the attention of established musicians. This made him work mainly as a guest musician.

In 2016 Giovanni's performance at the Montreux Jazz Festival guitar competition has caught the eye of Swiss blues songwriter Philipp Fankhauser, who included him in his band. He played several concerts around Switzerland for Fankhauser's "Unplugged" tour.

In 2018 he took part in the the international “Sharon Lynne Wilson Center guitar competition” in Brookfield (USA) where he won the third prize.

In 2021 Giovanni focused on the genre he first fell in love with: jazz music. Teaming up with musicians Diederik Wissels, Brice Soniano and Lionel Beuvens, Giovanni formed the Giovanni Di Carlo quartet. The group released the album A Child's Eyes, which is made of deep compositions and spontaneous conversations.
