Evie Asio
Evie grew up in South-East London, where she used the range of musical styles around her to begin writing songs. After graduating with a BA in Music, Evie began her music career through releasing a series of experimental projects, including her Conclusion EP [2015, via Soundcloud], and her Songs From Home YouTube series, as well as performing at notable venues such as The Spice of Life, Proud Camden and O2 Academy2 Islington.
After taking time out to develop her craft, Evie Asio released her debut single ‘Beautiful Love’ [2019] - a Jazz tale that lyrically balances the reality of living in a painful world and believing in hope for the future. The song was featured on 7gospeltracks, the AStepFWD September 2019 chart, and led Evie to be named a 2020 One to Watch by Premier Gospel.
Evie Asio is currently working on her first album Contending and Contention, a 9-track concept album dealing with the themes of struggle and self-reflection that she has explored in her own personal battles. The first single ‘Pendulum’ [March 2020], received international radio play on stations such as MFM Radio. The next single ‘Available’ deals with themes of social injustice and self-reflection, and was named as China Moses’ ‘Late Night Track of the Week’ on Jazz FM. Contending and Contention is due to be released in 2022.
