Domas Žeromskas

The 23-year-old Lithuanian jazz pianist and composer has spent his early formative years on stage alongside prominent native jazz veterans. By the time he graduated high school, Domas was already a sought-after player, known for his technical versatility and soulful, eclectic taste.

At the age of 18 Žeromskas released his debut album Infinite Itinerant, showcasing original music composed and arranged during his teenage years, some tunes dating back to 2015. Along with an abundant team of Lithuanian musicians, the album featured guest performances from Braxton Cook & Gustav Karlström. In the following years he has been recording and touring internationally with artists such as Jacques Schwarz-Bart, Gregory Tardy, Naledi Masilo and Eric Williams, among others.

More recently the Domas has been working on new original music alongside his acclaimed trio with Ian Quinton Banno on bass and Héctor L. Falu Guzmán on drums. Besides serving as a first-call rhythm section at Berklee and beyond, the group did a 2-week residency in Lithuania in the summer of 2022, performing at festivals and working with a handful of local and visiting artists. He was also part of 2022 edition of Euroradio Jazz Orchestra, hosted by WDR (Cologne, Germany).

Having recently graduated from Berklee College of Music, the pianist currently resides in Boston. He cites Gerald Clayton, Keith Jarrett, Sullivan Fortner and Rev. James Cleveland as piano influences. Domas’ original music combines Post-Bop and metrically-nuanced modern jazz with Gospel/sacred music traditions and Afro-Caribbean styles. The repertoire is often also enriched by modern adaptations of his native Lithuanian composers’ songbook and Baltic folklore.

If this happy session is any indication, Žeromskas seems poised to live up to that exploratory promise. This is a ...
