Carl Bahner

At the age when many drummers started banging on pots and pans, I was pounding out "chromatic reharmonizations" of my favorite nursery rhymes on a piano. My parents didn't quite understand the raw emotion that was spewing out of my awkwardly large four-year-old hands, so they enrolled me in piano lessons.

Two decades and a few dozen instruments later, I found myself performing with some top-notch musicians, including:

David Ivory (Patti Labelle, The Roots) Julie Slick (Adrian Belew) Chuck Treece (Billy Joel, Sting) Sharon Little (CBS Records) Andrew D'Angelo (Kurt Rosenwinkel) Gerald Veasley (Grover Washington, Jr) ...and many more.

I have had the opportunity to perform on stages from Vermont to New Orleans, on live TV, and opening for national acts like Keller Williams, Ari Hoenig, and Project/Object (feat. Zappa alum Ike Willis, Ed Mann and Don Preston).

I'm currently the head drum instructor at Rock & Roll After School in Phoenixville, PA. The students are a pleasure to teach, and this position has enabled me to teach student workshops with some killer players like Gerald Veasley (Grover Washington, Jr., Gerald Levert) and Dave Uosikkinen (the Hooters, Alice Cooper).

I've also written and arranged works for television shows, percussion ensembles, big bands, children's choirs, jazz combos, marching bands and more. I try to take every playing and arranging opportunity I can, and I like to think I still have a few things up my sleeve.

I am a proud endorser of SABIAN cymbals. Résumé available upon request.
