Alison Shearer

Alison Shearer is a saxophonist with tremendous style, lyricism and intuition whose talents have brought her around the world. Alison has appeared with Kurt Elling, Nate Smith, Charlie Hunter, Big Daddy Kane, Pharoahe Monch, Ana Egge, and is a member of the band Red Baraat, whom NPR calls “the best party band in years.” She has performed at The Blue Note NYC, Lincoln Center, Merkin Concert Hall, Bowery Ballroom, Brooklyn Bowl NYC, The Kennedy Center, Wolf Trap, Joe’s Pub, Arden Concert Gild, among others venues.

College at the Manhattan School of Music introduced Alison to many of the musicians she works with today. One of the notable groups to emerge from MSM during Alison’s time was PitchBlak Brass Band, a ten piece hip-hop brass band that has received critical acclaim from publications DownBeat Magazine, Live for Live Music, Brooklyn Vegan and The Source Magazine. Alison is a founding member of PitchBlak and has toured with the group extensively since its beginning in 2010. PitchBlak’s debut album “You See Us” was released in 2014. Alison will be releasing her debut album, View From Above on February 18, 2022.
