Alf Terje Hana, aka Athana

Guitarist/composer from/living in Stavanger Norway

Started playing guitar, late sixties, in his own bands like Crystal, Wasaband, Timebeat, and Athana since 2000. Often mentioned by critics, to be in the same landscape as Robert Fripp and Jeff Beck. Have 18 critically acclaimed Ahana albums so far.

Alongside with his own music, often used as a sideman on more than 80 albums.

Also involved in film-scores and comercial soundtracks for the industri and oil companies.

Collabrated with artists like: Sidsel Endresen, Eivind Aarset, Andrew D'Angelo, Mungolian Jetset, Sternklang, Lingouf, Überzone, KAOSS 99, Randi Tytingvåg, Werner Cee, Gary Husband, Jody Linscott and Stewart Copeland (The Police) with The  Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, both on stage, and releases.

Received Art Scholarship 2017 Stavanger Kommune.

The overall sound and music is founded in the electroacoustic, experimental, cinematic, ambient landscape.

Other active projects are : Athana/Andreasen, Sonarophon, Broken Standards Orchestra, Werner Cee ”Torrent” in Germany.

Gary Husband & The Trackers.

-From time to time taking guitar classes at AKKS.

-Worked at Rogaland Teater in the play ”MOR” autumn 2011.

- Has his own signature guitar effect series produced in USA.

“Athana Signature Overdrive, Distortion”.

- Composed music for the big scale outdoor concert, “Tou Tower” project with 48 guitarists, the summer of 2011. Later performed in Oslo June 2013,

on the New Music Festival.

- Athana was represented at the Numusic Festival 2011, opening concert at Folken.

- Collabrated with Fittings & Flanges (30 drums/perc.Students) for the opening of the new concerthouse in Stavanger. Performed in a scaffold  22/9-12

- Did the concert ”Athana Symphonic Experience”, 8.March 2013. With the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra and guest Stewart Copeland. Later released as a Bluray and CD November 2013. Supported by Kulturbyfondet.

- Working with the german multiartist Werner Cee in September 2014, where we performed the material at Maskinhallen Tou Scene, later released as a double album 2015.

- Collaborating Werner Cee in Germany with the project ”Torrent”, for recording and touring. And now in Gary Husbands new band ”The Trackers” from 2022 with TBC on bass. Played at the Maijazz festival 2018 with Athana/Jody Linscott & Gary Husband. Also landing as a release in spring 2019.
