About Me
Grew up with music in the household and couldn't let it go. I've written for multiple newspapers and online publications - currently writing for the Sheboygan Press - and pick up the trombone to play with jazz ensembles and bar bands, having had the opportunity to study with Robert Baca and Richard Johnson and play with Terell Stafford, Nachito Herrera, Wycliffe Gordon, Delfeayo Marsalis, Andy Martin, Byron Stripling, Geoff Keezer and more.
My ArticlesMy Jazz Story
I love jazz because... It was the first time I was excited about playing the trombone. I was first exposed to jazz... when I was a kid, my parents would listen to some groups that were not mainstream jazz, but taught me a lot about it. Steely Dan, Billy King, etc. I met [musician name]... a lot of great musicians, thanks to the UW- Eau Claire jazz program. Wycliffe Gordon, Terell Stafford, Michael Mossman, etc. The list goes on. The best show I ever attended was... Snarky Puppy in Milwaukee in 2013. Incredible. The first jazz record I bought was... Maynard Ferguson's Chameleon album. My advice to new listeners... internalize!! Listening is fun, but listening can be beneficial if you think about what you're hearing.
