Press Quotes “For sheer motive power, DeSteno fills the bill. He is a dynamo on drums spewing out a nonstop array of inspiration and encouragement while being highly rhythmic in a abstract way.”---Frank Rubolino Cadence Jazz (8/2002) “Stir in the non-stop propulsive drumming of DeSteno.”---Frank Rubolino Cadence---”The music of Tom DeSteno has a sound that is both provocative and exciting. This ensemble creates music that embodies a search for artistic expression and a sound that allows the listener to hear nuances of his own soul as well as theirs.”---Greenwich House Jazz-(1998) “His floating wall of rhythm on Shes Gone indicates how up he was from the start.”---Robert Rusch-Producer CIMP and Cadence Records(8/2001) “Tom creates a field of charged motion that allows the soloist a turbulent yet solid structure to work from.” ---Bob Magnuson (8/2001) “The stellar quartet co-let by tenor player Magnuson and drummer DeSteno on (3) creates the aural and visual image of shimmering heat rising off a desert floor.”---Steven Loewy, Cadence Magazine “This mostly fiery affair is an engaging and magnificent record. The musicians are inspired by their collective energy and strong compositional frameworks, informed by the spirit of the “New Thing” era while still remaining fresh. Indeed, lets hope that DeSteno and Magnuson continue on their already glorious path.”---Jay Collins One Final Note.Com Note (9/2002) “The quartet runs on all cylinders for the duration of the program and their stamina is as inspiring as it is dramatic. Magnuson and DeSteno are important players who will hopefully continue to release chronicles of their music together.” ---Derek Taylor All About Jazz.Com (8/2000)”Think of Coltrane's duets with Rashied Ali on Interstellar Space as a starting point for the pair. Magnuson burly tenor and DeSteno's unhurried drum style are equally forceful and committed. Over The Edge is a deeply felt and energetically realized project.”---AJRC Music Journal (Summer 2001) .
