My Jazz Story

I Love Music by Real Artists...If You know me, You know. I am a Baltimore Jazz Alliance Board Member. I love jazz because the Jazz community is diverse and sharing. I was first exposed to jazz while growing up and playing my parent's jazz records after dinner - anything to delay washing of the dishes! I especially enjoyed Dizzy Gillespie's Sonny Side Up. If Dizzy were still alive, he would truly enjoy Dizzy Spellz by Brinae Ali and Sean Jones...Also check out the Baltimore Jazz Collective! I highly recommend to all Jazz lovers! The best show I ever attended was the last jazz performance I enjoyed...so many and thank the Gods and Goddesses!!

My House Concert Story

I was blessed to be have a very close friend, Miche' Fambro. (R.I.P. Dec 2020) Miche's wife, Wendy would book him to perform at House concerts all over the world. I was able to attend a few closer to home in New York and Maryland and found those performances were extra special. Here in Baltimore, the best House concerts are at Jazzway 6004 hosted by Marianne and Howard Katz. Jazzway 6004 is a 501c3 non-profit organization that promotes straight ahead jazz and blues in an affordable and intimate setting and helps build local jazz audiences for our talented area musicians. The organization and venue developed out of a need for more jazz venues in Baltimore to showcase the tremendous wealth of jazz talent in our area. Being in someone's home as opposed to a concert hall or other typical music venue gives the audience an opportunity to really get to know the artist. The closeness and feeling of comfort in a home provides the audience an insight into the artist's musical soul. More stories are shared and the food is always wonderful too!
