About Me
My Jazz Story
I love jazz because...of its non-conformist, un-commercial attitude. Spontaneous, freedom within a tightly organized framework-gloriously creative! I was first exposed to jazz...in high school. I met [musician name]...some of the greats before their passing-Woody Herman, Mel Lewis, Buddy Rich, Stan Kenton, Mel Torme, many more. In recent years-Bill Holman, Doc Severinsen, Bobby Sanabria, many others. The best show I ever attended was...the Don Ellis orchestra in 1971. The first jazz record I bought was...Rich live at Ceasar's Palace. My advice to new listeners...listen to as many people as you can. The music is incredibly varied. Have fun! Or whatever else you have in mind.
