About Me

Guitarist and composer In the year 2000 he started to study classical music (classical guitar, modern guitar, boleros) at the University of El Bosque in Bogotá. Two years later, in 2002, he traveled to Barcelona to study at Taller de Músic's (a school specializing in modern music) focusing on jazz. After 4 years of studies in Barcelona, ​​he began to work on salsa, bolero, Latin music, bossanova, pop, funk, but mainly in jazz, playing in well-known bars in the city. Parallel to his work to play, he teaches guitar and solfege in private schools, develops music for short films and makes musical arrangements for different projects. After spending 9 years in Barcelona, ​​he moved to the city of Munich. During these 3 years, he recorded his first 2 albums as a soloist, accompanied by important musicians from the Munich jazz scene. played at important European jazz clubs, such as Munich (Unterfahrt, Vogler, Bayerischer hof, Milla) Rosenheim (le Pirate) Barcelona (Jamboree, Jazzsi club) Girona (Sunset) Berlin (B flat) Budapest (jazz garden) In 2014 he returned to Barcelona where he recorded his third jazz album with one of the most important trumpet players in Spain. During the last years he has taken workshops and Masters Classes with: Pat Martino, Chick Corea, Leo Brouwer, Scott Henderson, Giovanni Hidalgo, Horacio “el negro” Hernández and John Scofield. He has participated in festivals and played in cities such as Berlin, Munich, Rosenheim and Ingolstadt (Germany); Budapest, (Hungary); Toulouse, Marseille and Paris (France); Milan, Perulla (Italy); Galway, Dublin, Ennis, Limerick, Sligo, Belfast, Cork, (Ireland); Tanger, Casa Blanca, Marrakech, Ravat (Morocco); Barcelona, ​​Madrid, Ibiza, Formentera, Granada, La Alpujarra (Spain) Bogota, Barranquilla, Buenaventura, Pasto, Villa de Leyva, Leticia, Bucaramanga, Santa Marta, Monteria, Ibague, Villavicencio, Manizales, Medellin, Cucuta, Florence, San Andres and Popayan (Colombia). Nicolas has played in performance, recordings and jam sessions with: Sava Medan, Gerald Clayton, Antonio Sanchez, Gabor Bolla, Roberto Manzin, Till Martin, Dick Oatts, Guti live, Sistema Solar, Tino Derado, Jo junghanss, Tizian Jost, Jimmy Wormworth, karsten Gnetter, Justin Brown, Matthias Gmalin, David Pastor, Joe Baudisch, among others. In 2012 and 2013 he participated in the jazz festivals in Barranquijazz (Barranquilla) as an international guest, Jazz al Parque (Bogota) as a guest in the category (Colombians abroad) from Germany and Pasto jazz (Pasto) as an international guest from Germany 2015 in Barranquijazz (presenting his 3rd album) in 2016 He entered as a teacher at the University of Cundinamarca in Colombia. He also participate with other projects in the jazz festivals of (Barcelona) Voll Damm jazz festival and in Tanjazz (Tanger) Junction festival (Clonmel) In 2017, he has been invited to play for 13 different cities of Colombia by (Banco de la Republica). This year he recorded his fourth live album with renowned musicians of the Colombian jazz scene, In 2018 he obtained a bachelor's degree in music from the University of Antioquia. In 2019 Nicolas is invited to the jazz camp festival (coffee zone) Colombia, this same year he moves to Berlin
