About Me
Maurice Mo Egeston is a pianist, band leader and educator from St. Louis, Missouri. He spends his musical time
leading bands and writing music while also working as a collaborative pianist, accompanist and educator in both
the classroom and private studio.
A longtime veteran of the St. Louis music scene, Mo currently leads Mo Egeston (Mo E) All-Stars who released
their debut album in 2017 followed by 6 singles in 2020-2021. Pre-Pandemic he developed and hosted an event
called Late Nights Grooves @ the Dark Room, created through his residency (first year) with the Kranzberg Arts
Foundation.
In 2021 Mo relaunched his Celebrate the Groove event (first developed at Lola) that features original music and
rotating guest vocalists who perform Mo’s re-imagined arrangements of vocal classics touching on jazz, soul, r&b
and electronic music.
Mo Egeston All-Stars brings to life the groove and dance floor influenced styles that have been a part of Maurice
Mo Egeston's original music since his days with Urban Jazz Naturals. The All-Stars have developed a unique
sound, influenced equally by traditional jazz improvisation, modern soul, Latin grooves, electronic music and studio
style production.
Egeston emerged as a band leader in the 1990s with regional favorites Vargas Swing. He later wrote and released
music globally with the pioneering live electronic music project Urban Jazz Naturals and was a member of St. Louis
based rock band Brothers Lazaroff from 2008-2014.
As a pianist Mo did his graduate studies at Southern Illinois University (Edwardsville) with Dr. Linda Perry. He
currently runs his own Mo Egeston Piano Studio and is an instructor at Teipen Performing Arts. He has taught
adjunct classes at area colleges and Universities in the St. Louis area since 1996.
