My Jazz Story

Why I love jazz? I grew up with it, and it's always appealed to me. Simple as that. I was first exposed to jazz when I was about 6 years old. My grandfather had Kind of Blue on vinyl and I sat and listened to it pretending to play the trumpet. I started playing bass when I was 10 years old... I took lessons and began to play with some locals. I play in two jazz quartets: re:Group, my main project. We play music inspired by people like Nils Petter Molvaer, E.S.T, Portico Quartet and John Scofield, kind of a blend of new modern jazz and hard-hitting grooves! The other one is the TUP jazz quartet, we play in the more "mainstream" realm, at cafès, resturants and stuff like that. We Play mostly standards, with our own little twists: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGQOC2ATPTE Some of my influences consists of: Dave Holland Reid Anderson Ron Carter Paul Chambers John Patitucci Charles Mingus Stanley Clarke Ray Brown Ingebrigt Håker Flaten
