About Me
My Jazz Story
I was first exposed to jazz by my father's record collection in the 50s. Mostly swing including Count Basie, Benny Goodman, Woody Herman, Stan Kenton, Duke Ellington. I myself because interesting in Wes Montgomery in the 60s and went on playing in my junior college jazz band on both upright bass and guitar. Later I wood-shedded Joe Pass, Pat Martino, Howard Roberts, Barney Kessel and Chet Atkins. I became a rock-pop studio musician in the 70s in LA. Eventually I recorded a "smooth-jazz" guitar instrumental CD called New Vintage. In my adult years I went back to playing in a junior college jazz band again, this time a first chair reader doing Buddy Rich arrangements and Sal Nestico charts. Recently I played a eclectic funk-jazz performance with The Peterson Brothers Band at Vibrato in Bel Air, Ca.
